ewww for me

When Ashton see's something she doesn't want to eat, she calming declines it saying that it's "eww for me". I had an 'ewww for me' moment. I have a cold. I got home from work and on this snowy, cold day thought that a cup of hot chocolate would be real nice. I took a gulp of it. It was exactly what the doc ordered. I took a second gulp, and it promptly went down the wrong pipe. I gagged of course, a natural reflex that cleared what was left in my mouth right back into the cup. Oh, and I no longer had a stuffy, runny nose. Yup ... EWW FOR ME.

But hey, I contained it all in the cup ... no mess :-)

If I only had one bullet left ... it would be a sleepless night deciding where it would fly.

I have 3 options for my bullet. Maybe I could line up the 3 head to head and try to get my bullet to pass through them all.

Option One -- high school recruiting guru. I can't believe how many people make a living scouting high school sports, coming up with absolutely ridiculous scouting grades and reports and turning these kids into media circuses when most of them won't pan out or be worth my spit at the next level. By the way Manti Te'o, good luck being 'different' at Notre Dame. Seriously, what is the criteria for these scouting grades and what is the difference between a 5 star recruit out of Northern Montana and a 3 star guy out of East LA. During my glorious high school career in soccer, I looked pretty good playing Ganeesha (a tiny school out of Pomona, CA) and pretty terrible playing Alta Loma (a school with real athletes).

Option Two -- Any CEO who took TARP money (bailout gov't money). I could fool Ashton with a free handout, she knows that she isn't going to be held to any strings that may come with a free cookie. But if I offer a cookie to Daniel, Nathan, or Craig for no apparent reason they are going to be suspicious. Am I being nice because there is something not nice coming around the corner!? Probably.

Option Three -- Obama. I knew it would be bad, but DAMN ... it's like knowing the needle is going to hurt, and that still doesn't prepare you for the actual pain.

I lost sleep thinking about this. I finally would have to go with the recruiting guru/reporters. Those losers contribute nothing worthwhile to the world. The CEOs who took gov't money and Obama deserve each other. Now Obama is going to tell these CEOs what they can pay executives. HAHAHAHA ... in his world (and I mean Satan's world) there are NO FREEBIES. Obama and the CEOs are going to dance, and unfortunately freedom is going to be the wallflower without a partner.

Flying Just like Superman

Our resident cowboys played 'gitty-up' this morning ... they have lessons twice a month. Anyways, Craig is great on the horses, even was able to manuever around a charging horse. Of course the charging horse was Daniel's who bucked him off real good. He can barely walk, and it's only going to get even more sore. Must have pulled a muscle in his leg or strained it somehow. He did dust himself off and ride the horse (he was scared to death) for 10 more minutes.

Yes, the 'flying like superman' reference refers to Reaves, and yes, I'm very twisted.

The smaller house in the neighborhood

Just took the family thru the open house for the Draper Temple. Very nice, very clean and elegant, amazing chandiler in the celestial room, really nice (and really elegant) open house in the adjacent stake center that made the Riverside Temple Open House very Riverside-ish in comparison .... we had a nice time.

BUT HOLY COW, CAN WE TOUR THE BIGGER HOUSES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!?!!! A COUPLE OF THE HOUSES, err I mean castles DUE SOUTH FROM THE TEMPLE MAKE THE TEMPLE LOOK LIKE THE GUEST HOUSE AND I'M NOT EXAGGERATING HERE!!!!!

One temple worker told me he felt like the temple was merely an annex to next door. In hind sight, I would have made the temple out of the brillant white stone to help it stand out a little. Of course, the temple also wasn't for sell like much of the neighborhood ... or should I say foreclosed like much of the neighborhood.

Saper Veder ... if you read the blog long enough, the comparison will be obvious.

It's saper veder, two words in Latin. It was a phrase oft said about Leonardo Da Vinci, who was probably the most gifted person to walk the planet outside of you know who. It translates into the "art of seeing", and describes Leo to a T. To be so brillant in so many different endeavors takes a unique vision. Besides, it's said he could see so well he could count the number of flaps a humingbird made while hovering.

I'll let the public make the comparisons to my rants and ravings ... but I think its obvious, don't you?

Mad Game or Pure Talent?

In the arena of life that we call "the ladies" in our home, Craig has been and continues to be by far the most successful Player that we have. First day riding the bus to school, a girl demanded he sit next to her. A couple of evenings ago, 3 girls stood across the street pointing at our house. I noticed it first, not understanding what they were doing. Craig noticed them and stepped outside to say Hi and that sent the 3 girls running and screaming and giggling 'there he is ... there he is'.

I then watched and wondered as I saw the very elementary school style interaction continue. I saw a number of holes in Craig's game, or at least elements to it that I would deem flawed. I started wondering if Craig was just adapting to the elementary game and that in his own brillance he was just showing a mastery of the game. No one can doubt or question the results. It's a game he is winning and winning easily. But is it brillant, mad skills or just dominating lesser competition with raw, pure talent? Will his game adapt as the level of play increases in middle school? High School? College?
